History Repeats Itself
The stunning new Mazda3 has claimed the 2020 World Car Design of the Year title in the world’s most prestigious automotive awards, World Car of the Year.
It’s the second time a Mazda has won the World Car Design of the Year award, which sees a judging panel of 86 of the world’s most distinguished automotive experts review a competitive field of the best and most stylish cars from the year.
Mazda’s goal has always been to make cars that are fun to drive and that customers love to own, and this award is testament to the pursuit of that goal and the strength of Mazda’s future design direction.
Mazda3 arrived to Australia in 2019 and was the first of Mazda’s new generation vehicles, showcasing a maturing of Mazda’s characteristic Kodo Design language, adding unprecedented levels of advanced safety technology and features to give it best-in-class status.
The evolution of Kodo Design expressed in Mazda3 harnesses bold proportions and flowing body panels that give way to a sporty and powerful stance. The minimalist exterior aesthetic is mirrored inside the cabin, where premium materials and finishes meet streamlined and simple design to put the driver at the centre of vehicle operation, strengthening the sense of harmony between car and driver, which Mazda calls Jinba-ittai.
Mazda3 is more than stunning design, having also introduced the revolutionary Skyactiv-X engine, which plays an important role in Mazda’s pursuit of Sustainable Zoom-Zoom and a key element of its multi-solution approach to emissions reduction. Boasting greater efficiency, the ground-breaking Skyactiv-X engine is the world’s first commercially produced spark-controlled compression ignition gasoline engine and will be available in Australia in 2020.
Mazda3 is on sale Australia wide and available through Mazda’s Guaranteed Future Value program, Mazda Assured.
