Mazda CX-5 Redesigned and Redefined

Mazda’s best-selling SUV will bolster its reputation for style, safety and versatility, with a major redesign coming to Mazda CX-5 in early 2022 to offer customers even more choice.

All grades of Mazda CX-5 will share a sleek new front-end design, and improve comfort and dynamic performance. The top grade Akera, GT SP and mid-grade Touring will be more uniquely defined, with exterior changes highlighting the distinct character of each grade.

Applying the matured Kodo Design principles manifest in the sleek aesthetics of Mazda’s new generation Mazda3 and Mazda CX-30 vehicles, character lines have been minimised in favour of reflective body surfaces.

A new signature wing extends outward from the front grille, which is updated with a three-dimensional texture that replaces the outgoing mesh surface.

The headlights and taillights receive significant design changes with each lamp featuring a pair of horizontally spaced, rectangular LED lights that create a sleek, eye-catching expression.

Further exterior changes will be deployed grade-by-grade, giving visual definition to the line-up and reflecting the unique qualities of each variant to help customers find their perfect fit.

Luxurious enhancements designate the top spec Mazda CX-5 Akera; exterior cladding will be unified with the body colour, contrasted with bright silver finished wheels, and premium Nappa Leather to elevate the interior look and feel.

Black highlights proffer an invitingly sporty look for the second to top grade GT SP; the gloss black signature wing, grille, mirror caps and wheels are complemented by an all black interior with red accents.

Mazda CX-5 Touring will appeal to adventure-seekers. Best showcased in the new Zircon Sand Metallic body colour, exterior cladding on doors and front and rear bumpers imply an outdoor spirit, enhanced further by a lime green accent on the grille. Inside, the same lime green accents seat upholstery and air-conditioning louvres to carry through a sense of utility and SUV toughness.

Mazda CX-5 will also benefit from new generation technology, with updates common to all grades to offer a smoother, quieter and more comfortable drive based on Mazda’s human-centric development philosophy.

Drawing from new generation technologies, the seats have been redesigned to help provide the driver and the vehicle’s occupants with greater stability, supporting the natural S-curve of the spine. The driver will also appreciate smoother acceleration with a more responsive and refreshed transmission, and improvements to the dampening control structure and increased frame rigidity help suppress unpleasant vibrations, reduce road noise, and provide a higher quality of ride comfort.

Further to this, Mazda intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) will debut on Mazda CX-5, enabling the driver to select the most appropriate drive mode to optimise driving capability with one touch of a switch.

The full Mazda CX-5 grade line-up will be confirmed closer to the Australian market launch, in the first-half of 2022.
